Synopsis

Mawi Asgedom moved from a Sudanese refugee camp to Chicago when he was three years old. His father, formerly a doctor in Ethiopia had to do back-breaking work in order to support his family, but he always encouraged the author to dream and to educate himself. After years of struggle, he was accepted with a scholarship to Harvard University.
